Mission Statement

The Center's overall mission is to conduct public health research, disseminate its findings through publications, and educate the public towards health promotion and disease prevention mostly for the benefit and welfare of the people in the Pacific Rim*.

Specific aims of the Centerfs mission are:

  1. Conduct research in the field of public health with the main focus on population-based studies of cardiovascular disease and cancer but also with consideration for other diseases, and health services research;

  2. Disseminate research findings through publications in research journals but also through the media which will serve health education functions for the public at large; and

  3. Promote and practice the prevention of chronic diseases and afflictions through the use of advanced diagnostic procedures, the regular use of good nutrition, regular exercise and other health regimens to enhance, restore and retain the physical and mental well being mostly for the people in Pacific Rim.

   *Pacific Rim is defined as the geographical areas attached to the Pacific Ocean including North and South American Continents, Japan, most Asian countries, Australia, and New Zealand.
